Capturing the Grandeur of Viaduct de Millau - the Tallest Bridge in the World

David Meaux Photography was recently on assignment in France.  Here is a highlight from a personal detour during our trip!  More to come...

Located in southern France, Le Viaduct de Millau is a cable-stayed bridge that spans the valley of the River Tarn.  Designed by the French engineer Michel Virlogeux and British architect Norman Foster, the viaduct is the tallest bridge in the world.  Constructed in just three years, the bridge is an engineering and architectural marvel.  At its highest point, the viaduct soars 343 meters (1,125 ft) above ground, 19 meters (62 ft) taller than the Eiffel Tower!   The bridge has been consistently ranked as one of the great engineering achievements of all time.  In 2006, it received the 2006 International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering Outstanding Structure Award. (Information gathered from the Site Officiel de Viaduct de Millau and the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering.)
